The SUV was a very popular vehicle for a short period of time. Then people began to realize that the waste of materials to make these cars and the waste of gas that they consume wasn’t worth the benefits of the vehicle. Now people are looking at alternatives to the SUV that give you some of the same perks with fewer of the drawbacks.

The most popular alternative to the SUV is the CUV or crossover vehicle. These appear very similar to the SUV. This gives you a lot of room and a nice ride. However, the actual body design of the CUV is more like a car than an SUV so a lot of the drawbacks of the slightly bigger SUV aren’t there.

You may want to look at why you needed an SUV in the first place when considering alternatives. A friend of mine works at a pet store and she’s always hauling around big stuff like cat trees, huge bags of pet food and pet beds. She wanted an SUV for hauling that stuff around but then she realized that she could just get a truck instead. Large cars, especially those with a hatchback design, are yet another alternative to the SUV.
