A Safe Home Office

Working from home is great, but when you have pets and/or kids, you also need to consider how safe your home office is.
Kids of course are a bigger concern, especially small children, because they have a knack for getting into what they shouldn’t. Also, people who live in live work lofts are often responsible for childcare as well, meaning that the kids are often right there in the office with them — and right around the things you don’t want them to get into.
So if you live in Carlsbad lofts or townhomes in Carlsbad where you have both a home office and small creatures running around the house, here are a few tips to keep all of your children — not matter how many legs they have.
- Keep cords neatly tucked out of the way. Not only puppies and kittens chew on cords. Rabbits are ferocious chewers too. Also, loose cords are tempting for a baby or a toddler to pull on.
- Use plastic outlet covers. I know these are difficult to get in and out of the outlets, but think of it this way — they are even harder for your kids to manage.
- Keep potentially dangerous office supplies, such as scissors and paper clips, put away at all times. Don’t leave them within reach of little hands — or paws.
- Shut your office door when you’re not in there. Don’t leave an open invitation for your children or pets to get into things when you’re not around to supervise.
Whether you have children or pets, it is your responsibility not only to get your work done so that you can pay the bills, but also to make sure that they are as safe as possible at all times!
