There have been two areas I’ve been working in with this consulting firm. First, I’ve been working as an inside sales consultant pushing a company backed initiative to support inside sales outsourcing. I have actually learned a great deal about internal business structure, and being able to effectively and efficiently use business resources. This position is interesting, but still a little boring. I’ve been working hard, and kept my nose to the grindstone. Hopefully this year will help me turn over a new leaf. I’d sure like to focus a little bit more on my other job. For the first part of the week I’m stuck in this department, and when Wednesday hits I work for another area.

The other area I’ve been working in is telemarketing consulting. Surprisingly, this has been the most interesting part of my workday. I’ve been able to sit and listen to customer calls and hear or see how the sales people interact. I’ve even picked up a few techniques that I can bring to other companies, and I have coached them on working within these bounds. I’ve seen lots of companies benefit from the techniques we teach, and I get a great sense of accomplishment when I’m able to look at a business that I know I’ve helped.
