I think that offering employee rewards and that having an employee recognition program is one of the best things a company can do for itself. I have a job that I would have quit a long time ago if I did not have such a great company to work for. They actually try to keep their employees happy and healthy and really go out of their way to make sure they are always developing new ways to contribute to the quality of work life for the people who work there. This effort has gone a long way in my mind in keeping me there.

I hate the job. It is a call center job and I have to spend all day every day listening to these customers who usually are either extremely rude, short, holier than thou, snobby, arrogant, completely clueless, or otherwise basically just calling to waste my time. It is a thankless job and more than a few times have I wanted to just throw my phone through the window, and ideally, the customer on the other end of the line too. But at least I get recognized for putting up with it, and rewarded for going the extra mile anyway. That makes it bearable, and I would not stay without that extra effort from my company.
