If you haven’t caught on to the Airsoft revolution just yet, then you should brace yourself. It is most certainly coming, because people are playing this game at an alarming regularity that we have not seen in quite some time. If you are looking for some sort of revolution to compare it to, then you should consider the paintball explosion for a little while. In the 1990s and into the new century, people played paintball like it was going out of style. The game got so popular that even ESPN put it on their network. This only helped to increase the popularity, as more people wanted a taste of the action.

Action is what this sport is built on. People who love to play with Airsoft guns will all tell you the same thing. They do it because it is a huge rush. They do it because it provides a huge sense of excitement for them. People spend lots of money on awesome Airsoft equipment like the Tokyo Marui guns and they do it for a reason. What is a Flow Meter?

When you think of an air flow meter, what comes to mind? Some of you that are mechanically inclined may think of cars and their air flow sensor that monitors the air mix in your fuel injection systems. Others may think of Oxygen flow meters that are used on oxygen tanks in many older patient homes. Did you realize that major corporations also use different types of meters to monitor gasses?

Mass air flow meters are designed to track various types of gases. Some of these include Ammonia, Butane, Ethane, Helium, Oxygen, Nitrogen, Chlorine Gas, Propane, and even Compressed Air. These meters are designed to give accurate measurements of the gases regardless of the temperature of the gases.

What is the purpose of these meters? First, these meters help to track any changes in pressure that are the result of leaks. Some gas leaks are not serious. Then there are those that can spell major disaster. Being able to track these leaks can lead to getting them repaired in the quickest amount of time. Also, stopping leaks saves the company money by reducing wasted gases. Stopping leaks can also reduce overall costs to consumers. Over time, a good flow meter can pay for itself.

Workaholics

My father never actually leaves work. Sure, in body, he leaves the office at five just like everybody else, but while everybody else’s thoughts turn toward their families, who’s playing on Monday Night Football, what’s for dinner, my father is thinking about work, and he’s letting everybody around him know it.

Normal parents ask their kids about their day, and take it from there. My father will tell us what model multispindle machine he sold that day and quiz us on the specs to see if we were listening a week ago when he told us about it.

Most middle-aged men watch football on Monday night or maybe watch a TV show. If they aren’t into TV, maybe they go running or work out, or take in some literature. I guess my dad takes in literature, but not Mark Twain or Chuck Palanick. No, he’ll read pamphlets about the latest screw machine or maybe pick up his well-worn copy of The Amateur’s Lathe.

I guess I should be a little glad that my dad has screw machines on the brain all the time. He doesn’t really notice when I don’t mow the lawn, and he probably wouldn’t notice if I scratched the car. I really admire him and his dedication to his work.

Cool USB Projects

Those of us who aren’t ashamed to say that we’re geeks are always interested in finding out about cool new technology things that are being invented. One of the cooler things that I’ve stumbled across recently is information about a USB project that someone wrote about on his blog.

The project was to make a USB airsoft turret using a modified airsoft gun and a USB-based foam missile launcher base. What’s the purpose of this tech toy? To add something cool to your desk from the game of airsoft in order to shoot BBs across the cubicle and keep yourself entertained on dull days.

I can imagine a whole line of these toys. People that are into airsoft would love to have their favorite airsoft guns (whether those are kwa guns or tokyo marui guns) turned into USB toys.

If you aren’t familiar with USB toys (because apparently you aren’t a self-proclaimed geek) then you should know that there are lots of these out there. You can find a USB version of almost any toy or gadget that you’re fond of. Don’t be afraid to be a little geeky and check it out. There’s some cool stuff out there!
