Our school budget was cut this year because a manufacturing company, one of the major employers in the city, moved its headquarters to another state.  They offered jobs to local workers who agreed to move there, and since there isn’t that much here in the same line of work, a lot of people left, taking their families with them.  Our student enrollment fell, and with it, our budget.  We also had to lay off some employees.
