Online Journalists and their Readership

The development of personalized news through news aggregators has meant that many people get their online news in one place without ever visiting an online news source. This development of the way that people get their online news is an advancement from the traditional online news sites such as newspaper sites and TV news sites.

This means that it is difficult for the journalists and original news sources to evaluate the reach of their news as it tends to get diluted as it spreads out through the web.

The challenge for the original news outlets is how to measure the reach of their news. Journalists have traditionally been against this as they regard their readership as something that is tangible and conceptual. However they now have to have a paradigm shift in how to view their readership and in fact how closely involved they are with them.
